We apologise for the tongue-in-cheek Ramsayesque photo, but we're really quite a jolly bunch most of the time!
First and foremost we have set out to be a traditional English country pub. We're not trying to be a restaurant. Neither are we trying to be a so-called gastro-pub. We offer traditional pub food such as scampi and chips, steak and ale pie, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and baguettes, etc. Having said that we do throw a few more 'exotic' dishes into the mix, such as our legendery risotto, famous lasagne and the much-talked-about steaks with stilton toppings.

So what's the secret of our success? Well it's very simple really; all our meals are prepared here on the premises from base ingredients locally souced, wherever possible. So many pub meals are just bought-in, frozen or boil-in-the-bag ready meals whereas each meal you order in The Duke is cooked specially for you. You can be assured of fresh, tasty ingreients in all our meals and very reasonable prices.
On occaision, when we're very busy, you may have to wait a little longer than perhaps your used to, but we believe that quality is more important than speed. If it's fast food you're after we hear MacDonalds is very good!

At The Duke we can also cater for private parties, anniversaries, wakes, wedding receptions, etc., for up to 85. You can take over the whole pub or just one of our rooms.

We cater for vegetarians and those with other special dietry requirements by prior arrangement.
